Konkona Sen Sharma is an Indian actress and filmmaker who works in Bengali and Hindi films. She is the daughter of filmmaker and actress Aparna Sen. She has received several accolades, including two National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and two International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. She made her acting debut as a child artist in the film Indira (1983).
Early Life and Education
Konkona Sen Sharma was born on December 3, 1979, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, into a family deeply rooted in the arts and literature. Her father, Mukul Sharma, was a science writer and journalist, and her mother, Aparna Sen, is an actress and film director. She has an elder sister, Kamalini Chatterjee, who is also involved in the arts.
Konkona Sen Sharma's maternal grandfather, Chidananda Dasgupta, was a film critic, scholar, professor, writer, and one of the co-founders of the Calcutta Film Society. Her maternal grandmother, Supriya Dasgupta, was a cousin of the legendary modern Bengali poet Jibanananda Das.
Konkona Sen Sharma completed her schooling at Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata. She later moved to Delhi, where she attended Calcutta International School. In 2001, she graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, with a bachelor's degree in English.
