Shweta Bhattacharya

Shweta Bhattacharya is an Indian actress and model who primarily works in Bengali films, television serials, and web series. She became popular for her roles in Bengali TV series such as Sindoor Khela (2010), Tumi Robe Nirobe (2014), Jarowar Jhumko (2016), Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki (2018), Jamuna Dhaki (2020), Nandini (2023), and Kon Gopone Mon Bhesheche (2023). She has received several awards, including six Zee Bangla Sonar Sansar Awards, two Telly Adda Awards, and a Tele Academy Award.

Early Life and Education

Shweta Bhattacharya was born on September 21, 1992, in Dum Dum, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, into a Bengali Hindu poverty-stricken family. She completed her schooling at Dum Dum High School in North Kolkata. She later graduated from Sarojini Naidu College for Women in Nager Bazaar, West Bengal. She was interested in dance since childhood. She is trained in the classical dance form Bharatanatyam, along with Kathak, folk, and salsa. When she was in class eight, she auditioned for Dance Bangla Dance.

Career

Shweta Bhattacharya began her acting career in 2008 with small roles in Bengali television serials and films, including Challenge (2009), Prem Aamar (2009), and Le Chakka (2010). Her first major role came in 2010 with the Bengali TV serial Sindoorkhela, where she played the lead role of Simontini Sen, also known as Moni. Since then, she has appeared in popular television serials, including @Bhalobasha.com (2012), Tumi Robe Nirobe (2014), Jorowar Jhumko (2016), Konok Kakon (2019), Jamuna Dhaki (2020), Sohag Jol (2022), and Kon Gopone Mon Bheseche (2023).

In 2018, she made her Hindi television debut in the comedy-drama series Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki, playing the role of Daali Chaudhary. However, her Hindi project couldn’t make a mark on the TRP charts.

In 2022, she played her first lead role in the Bengali film Prajapati, directed by Avijit Sen and produced by Atanu Raychaudhuri. She starred alongside Mithun Chakraborty, Dev, Mamata Shankar, Koushani Mukherjee, Koneenica Banerjee, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Biswanath Basu.

Personal Life

Shweta Bhattacharya married her Jamuna Dhaki co-star Rubel Das on January 19, 2025. They first met on the set of the TV serial "Jamuna Dhaki" and later confessed their love for each other in 2022.
